Benjamin Ide Wheeler Medal and Berkeley Community Fund Education Awards

The Berkeley Community Fund (BCF) invites you to nominate an outstanding individual for the 2010 Benjamin Ide Wheeler Medal. The Medal, a historic Berkeley award since 1929, is conferred annually to honor a person that has benefited the quality of life for a significant number of people in Berkeley. The selection is made for distinguished, longtime public service as well as professional achievements that have had a major impact on our community and beyond.

Also, in keeping with the Berkeley Community fund’s new focus on 4-year college scholarships for Berkeley High graduates of promise, the BCF Education Awards will be given this year to an individual and an organization that have made a significant impact on public education in Berkeley. An award to an honored organization includes an unrestricted grant of $5,000 to assist in its continued work. The nominated organization must have a current 501(C)(3) tax status or a fiscal sponsor.

The winners will be honored at our Seventeenth Annual Awards Dinner in the Fall.
