That fact that my parents could conquer their fears when fleeing Vietnam, coupled with the feelings that arose during a police standoff, has motivated me to become and active leader in school. My shyness was a debilitating factor for many years, but I have learned to overcome this obstacle. I am no longer confined within my comfort zone, but have immersed myself in a variety of activities. I hope that my leadership role in these clubs will continue to enrich the lives of others, as well as myself, by promoting and understanding between people of diverse backgrounds-whether they are those with special needs, or those who were born into different race, gender, ethnicity, or culture. In my journey to accomplish my future goals and ambitions I continue to challenge myself.
