I couldn’t focus that much, the only thing I knew how to do to cope with my mother battling with cancer and our financial problems was to write music. January began to approach and the day I would be going out of state to sing at the White House came near. I was selected as the only vocalist to sing and play my personal arrangement of “America the Beautiful”. My mother was at every performance while she was battling her illness. This has made me a better person because in life you are going to be handed some situations you didn’t think you could handle, but once you get through them you can say “look how far I’ve got”.
